EcoThailand Foundation Teaching Sala & Workshops
Rai Vithee Community Garden Site
EcoThailand has a dedicated Teaching Sala facility sited at Rai Vithee Community Garden on Koh Phangan. Here we have a covered space equipped with basic teaching aids to support both our school and community education activities and to run a series of specialist workshops for visitors to the islands and the local communities. The sala is surrounded by rice fields, flower gardens, permaculture plots and Medicinal Herb beds providing a tranquil learning space.
The sala and the Garden facilities, including coffee and icecream shop, som tam shop and vegetarian food outlet, provide an ideal venue for both EcoThailands activities and sponsored workshops but also workshops run by Rai Vithee Community Garden itself and other community groups, as a resource center.
The sala and other facilities on site are available for use, at minimal expense, as an event location for anyone on the Gulf Islands, please Contact Us for more details.
To date EcoThailand has sponsored a number of workshops, provided free of charge, to island residents and visitors including:
Citronella Oil Making (with Raitiaviset Organic Farm)
Apiculture (Beekeeping) in the Thai Gulf
Thai Traditional Medicinal Herbs
Permaculture – an introduction to theory and practice
Cacao growing and Chocolate Making
Rice Harvesting and use
It is our intention to provide free, or minimal cost, training and workshops to local people and communities whenever possible.
