Informal School Phangan

Whilst EcoThailand interacts with all of the Thai state schools on Koh Phangan in the context of our Environmental Guardianship programs, the Phangan Non-formal and Informal Education Centre holds a special place in our work and benefits from our MicroGrants program. The school has around 100 students with a wide age range and 5 teachers. The school caters specifically for children from under privileged backgrounds and from itinerant worker families who are often unable to attend regular schools classes in the state education system. The flexibility offered by the Informal School does however ensure that these students are able to obtain some structured education.
